Frequently asked questions about Gebauer's Instant Ice
What is Gebauer's Instant Ice?
Gebauer's Instant Ice is a non-prescription cold spray (also called a vapocoolant or topical skin refrigerant) that cools the skin within seconds, so you can use it the way you would use ice. Each 3.9 oz steel can has a stream spray nozzle for precise application.
What is Instant Ice used for?
Instant Ice provides temporary relief from minor pain and swelling associated with sprains, strains, bruising, contusions, minor sports injuries, and muscle spasms. Athletic trainers, coaches, physical therapists, and chiropractors keep it on hand because it works immediately and doesn't require a freezer or ice packs.
How do I apply Instant Ice?
Hold the can upright about 3 to 7 inches (8 to 18 cm) from the treatment area. Point the nozzle at the area and press the actuator button firmly. Use the smallest amount needed to get the cooling effect. After applying, gently stretch the muscle, and stop stretching if you feel any pain or discomfort.
How long does the cooling effect last?
The cooling effect usually lasts from a few seconds up to about a minute. That's typically enough to help reduce or relieve the initial pain of a minor injury.
Do I need a prescription?
No. Gebauer's Instant Ice is sold over the counter and doesn't require a prescription.
What's the difference between stream spray and mist spray?
A stream spray delivers a narrow, focused stream, so you can target a specific spot, such as a bruise or a strained muscle. A mist spray covers a wider area with a finer spray. Orthoco carries the stream spray version of Instant Ice.
Is Instant Ice safe for children?
Instant Ice is for adult use only. The can is not child-resistant, so store it out of reach of children.
Who should not use Instant Ice?
Don't use Instant Ice if you've had a hypersensitivity reaction to 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane or 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, its two ingredients. Keep it away from the eyes and other mucous membranes, and don't spray it near the face or on open wounds. If skin irritation develops, stop using it.
Is Instant Ice flammable or messy?
No. Instant Ice is non-flammable, non-staining, and has no harsh odor. It can be sprayed from any angle and is less messy than ice.
Is there a discount for buying in bulk?
Yes. Buy 12 or more cans and pay $22.00 each instead of $25.00, which is useful for clinics, schools, and team training rooms.
Where do you ship Instant Ice?
We ship Instant Ice within the United States only. We don't offer international shipping.
Can I return Instant Ice?
No. All sales of Instant Ice are final.
